Florida Board of Opticianry Member Recruitment
The Governor’s Appointments Office is currently accepting applications for appointments to the Florida Board of Opticianry. The Board was established to ensure that every optician practicing in Florida meets minimum requirements for safe practice. The Board is responsible for licensing, monitoring, disciplining, and educating opticians, and when appropriate, rehabilitating licensees to ensure competency and safety to practice in Florida.
The Florida Board of Opticianry plays a leading role in the ever-changing health care environment through dialogue with the public, the legislature, academia, and the community. The Board consists of seven members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. Five members of the Board must be Florida licensed opticians in good standing. The remaining two members must be consumer members. Consumer members are residents of Florida who have never been licensed as opticians and who are in no way connected with the practice of opticianry. At least one member of the Board must be 60 years of age or older. Applications for all appointments are being accepted for consideration.
