Expedited Licensure Options for Evacuees from Puerto Rico

The Board of Opticianry provides the following information to assist individuals from Puerto Rico who are seeking to work in Florida:

The following steps have been taken to facilitate the verification of licensure:

  • The board office is partnering with POF (Professional Opticians of Florida) to obtain information on dispensing optician licensure in Puerto Rico, and the equivalencies to Florida requirements.
  • Board staff is reaching out to national professional organizations and regulatory organizations to discover alternative methods of verifying licensure qualifications and credentials for those who do qualify for licensure, but encounter obstacles to obtaining original or official documentation.
  • The board office has established contact with our regulatory counterpart in Puerto Rico for information on licensure requirements and to collaboratively assist those licensees with verifying their credentials:
